A common request arrives in a familiar shape: my company has an entry, why can't I? Or: my father was a senator, why can't I? The logic feels self-evident. It fails anyway.
Coverage does not transfer between related subjects. An article about the company is coverage of the company, not of its founder. A profile of the parent is a record of the parent, not of the child. Each subject is judged on sources written about that subject, specifically and at length.
Notability is not inherited.
This catches people who are otherwise well briefed. A subsidiary named in coverage of its parent is a mention, not coverage of the subsidiary. A spouse quoted in a profile of the better-known partner is quoted, not covered in their own right.
The test does not soften with proximity. Has anyone independent written about this subject, at length, unprompted? A famous relation, a well-covered employer, a notable predecessor: none of it stands in for that answer.
